CHARD GM-150 Grain Mill, Tin Coated Cast Iron,Silver

Categories: ,
After reading many reviews for many mills, I settled on this product. As someone who never used a mill before and didn’t want to ruin the cacao (chocolate) seeds I had to grind, I was a bit concerned. I started with coffee beans and in less than five minutes produced a fine coffee powder. A few reviewers had explained that you have to start with a loose grind and tighten the nut a bit more everytime you pass your grains through the mill. This proved to be valuable guidance. Very few metal shavings appeared after the first run, but there were none the second time around and while grinding my chocolate. I like that it comes with the rubber pad to prevent any damage to my wood table. I attached a couple of photos, the first (close up in metal bowl) is of the coffee and the second (in glass bowl) is of the chocolate. The price was right and it came partially assembled so you feel like you only have to put it together, not build it from scratch. There was no oil or funny smells on the mill. It also came with a useful diagram and instructions that are perfect for first timers like myself. The hopper is huge and held all of my cacao seeds which yielded a quart of cocoa powder. The price was right. You may want to have a little basting brush handy to dust of any fine particals that will blow into the crevices of the device. My 1.5 quart Pyrex bowl fit perfectly underneath the mill. Do not hesitate to buy this if looking for a mill that will get the job done right without breaking the bank.
